Coloplast Corporation
Minneapolis, MN
completed in 2009
180,000 square foot new construction and renovation
certified LEED Silver
Coloplast, a Denmark-based medical device manufacturer, desired a North American headquarters where research and development, manufacturing and front office activities could be consolidated. Multiple locations throughout the U.S. were considered. The company ultimately decided on Minneapolis. In particular, a brownfield site just north of downtown along the Mississippi River and where an existing Coloplast manufacturing facility was located. RSP designed the new five-story, 190,000 square foot office tower and renovated the existing lab/manufacturing facility. We blended Coloplast’s Danish influences with American design sensibilities, resulting in a clean, crisp and understated headquarters. Certified LEED Silver, the building features 75-foot-wide floor plates to ensure all employees enjoy daylight and views to the outside from their workstations. Since opening in spring 2009, Coloplast has received praise from government officials for kick-starting a revitalization of Minneapolis’ north side.
The project was named a Best Project 2009 by Finance & Commerce.
