Sustainability
RSP is an active steward of sustainable design. While most firms provide a laundry list of sustainable accomplishments, we believe sustainable design is inherent within any good, smart building design. It’s just what we do. We always approach a project conscious of its impact on the environment and strive to make smart decisions. We constantly read about new products, materials or strategies that reduce operating costs. Our clients expect nothing less. And while everyone is still touting LEED, we’ve moved beyond checklists to consider the building’s lifecycle. Because at RSP, sustainability isn’t accomplished through the accumulation of points, its holistic and intrinsically woven into the fiber of an organization.
Sustainable design accomplishments:
-
We are committed to the 2030 Challenge which requires architecture firms to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions in the built environment.
-
We are in the process of certifying our U.S. headquarters under LEED for Existing Buildings. (When certified, our historic headquarters will be the oldest certified building in Minnesota.)
-
Regarding LEED certification, we have 13 certified projects completed to date with several pending, including our first LEED Platinum project, the City of Minneapolis’ Hiawatha Maintenance Facility.
-
One-third of our professional staff are LEED accredited with a goal that half will be by years’ end
-
Our internal “Green Team” educates and implements sustainable design initiatives within our offices
-
We are active members in the Center for Corporate Sustainability; Urban Land Institute, U.S. Green Building Council and Open Standards Consortium for Real Estate
