Maplewood Mall

Disco was not yet topping the charts when the Maplewood Mall opened in 1974.  The suburban Minneapolis shopping center had not had an upgrade in more than 20 years when RSP was asked to renovate and reinvigorate it. The design team enhanced the customer retail experience by updating the food court, restoring the previously-covered clerestory windows and adding a three-tiered array of colored large scale LED lights to create a more dramatic Center Court. The exterior renovation included five mall entrances, new signage, and exposing the steel structure in the main entry to allow in natural light. Visitors love the new open design and accessibility.
